When the owner of a property changes, the connection agreement will be renewed with the new owner. A usage agreement can be made for the tenant, after which they will be billed according to the quantity of water and waste water used.

Joensuun Vesi will request a water meter reading once a year by sending a report card by post. This does not include those customers who have a remotely read water meter installed. The water bill is adjusted based on the reading, and it is also used to estimate the annual water consumption for future bills. The Vesitili online service (only in Finnish) is used to report the meter readings. The service also shows data on your water consumption and old bills. You can also report the water meter reading by returning the report card by post.

Some of the installation and maintenance work may be carried out by an external contractor, while some of the work must be ordered from Joensuun Vesi.

Please note that Joensuun Vesi does not perform excavation work, but that there needs to be an excavation ready for any ordered work.

To avoid delays, it is advisable to place the work orders well in advance. The estimated delivery time for orders is one week. Urgent work orders should be placed by phone. Joensuun Vesi invoices for work orders in accordance with its price list.

Joensuun Vesi only performs pressure sewer connection work. Other sewer connection work must be ordered from elsewhere. The site manager responsible for the construction of a property’s water and sewer equipment is also responsible for checking the sewer connections.

In addition, we will notify you by text message of water supply cuts. If you have a publicly available phone number, you do not need to register it separately. If you have a work or unlisted phone number, you will need to register your number in order to receive the text messages. The owner of a rented flat, secondary residence, holiday home or similar can also register their phone number to that address if their permanent home address is elsewhere. You can subscribe to notifications from several addresses. The text message service is available only in Finnish.

The water supplied by Joensuun Vesi is of high quality and safe to use. The raw water we use is clean groundwater that does not require treatment. The water is also soft, which means there is no need for water softeners or high quantities of detergents.

The wastewaters of the nearly 90,000 residents of Joensuu and the surrounding municipalities are processed by three wastewater treatment plants: Kuhasalo, Eno and Tuupovaara. The quantity of wastewater treated is about 7 million cubic metres yearly.

Joensuun Vesi is an unincorporated enterprise owned by the City of Joensuu.  We are responsible for the management of water services and other services related to the sector not only in Joensuu, but also in the area of neighbouring municipalities and water cooperatives that have signed an agreement. The City of Joensuu is responsible for storm drainage.
